Economic Development – For What?

I’ve dedicated my career to the growth of Saskatchewan - as past VP (Western Canada) for the CFIB, as past CEO of both SREDA and STEP, and as a former Deputy Minister of Enterprise and Innovation. In the last 15 years I’ve also coached, mentored, and trained hundreds of other leaders to develop and grow their organizations. But it is more important to see growth as a means to a much bigger end, and not as an “end game” in itself.
Canada Needs a “Plan A”, a “Plan B”, and a “Plan C”

Based on all the chaos of the last week, it’s clear that Donald Trump is taking a leaf out of his old playbook, “The Art of the Deal.” He is trying to “out psych” Canada to make it seem like we are in a weaker position. The Canadian “mouse” is being played with. We are pinned under the big paw of a giant, unpredictable “orange cat.” And that big orange tabby has retractable claws. “Plan A” is to exercise our own leverage back. It is an attempt to beat Trump at his old game.
We Can Be Better Than This

I am livid. And as a citizen of this planet, I’m ashamed to be from Saskatchewan. Most people know me as “a business guy.” But before that and exactly 50 years ago, I won the “Man of the Trees” prize as the top undergraduate from the U. of S.
